The Silent Majority Need To Wake Up - Politically Homeless

Real people. Real letters. Real problems. No solutions.

Politics these days have become so divided and divisive that it’s become the norm to view the other side of the aisle as “the enemy”. People are being told to “pick a side” and that there’s no room for middle ground. We here at Phetasy believe that there are a lot more people in the middle than politicians and the media would have us believe.

We’re collecting stories from the ever growing number of people who are finding themselves Politically Homeless and posting them here on Substack. If you have moved from conservative to liberal, or liberal to conservative, if you feel you’ve stayed in the same place and your party has swerved drastically away from you, if you had a moment that awakened you to the insanity and hypocrisy on both sides, if you keep your mouth shut anytime a political topic comes up because you’re afraid your opinion will cause you to lose friends or your job, you’re not as alone as you might think.

Our goal is to shine a light on people’s earnest, individual experiences and show them they’re not alone.

Some letters have been edited for clarity and brevity. If you’re politically homeless and would like to share your story, please email us at iampoliticallyhomeless@gmail.com. All submissions will remain anonymous.

Letter 88

December 27, 2023

I think I belong to the middle of the road but slightly right leaning in believing we are better as a society sharing common values.  Although not particularly religious the values most religions promote and once valued in Society no longer seems to be shared.

The Liberal belief that we should all have individual freedom to choose and the conservative collective ideals seem to have created a divided society. Popper’s paradox of tolerance seems to be playing out before our eyes allowing the intolerant to take over many of our Companies, institutions and Politics in promoting what seems common sense views but which are bringing many unintended consequences.

Black lives, climate change, LQBTQ+, DIE, ESG, Gender Identity and all the other divisive issues certainly matter but not to the extent that their supporters would believe the tolerant are intolerant to their view. They have and are dividing society and destroying the values on which it has hitherto been created.

When people are fearful of being cancelled, losing jobs or friends we should know that something is wrong and time for the tolerant to take back control. Our longstanding Political parties have lost their way and try to be all things for all people and in the end alienate those that used to support them. I have turned away from the mainstream media which no longer seems to report opinion as News and calls everyone that does not share their view right wing. I think the silent majority now need to wake up and take back control of their society which they are fast losing to the ideologies of the internet and elite.

Thank you,

Politically Homeless
