Can't Vote For Trump Again - Politically Homeless

Real people. Real letters. Real problems. No solutions.
5

Politics these days have become so divided and divisive that it’s become the norm to view the other side of the aisle as “the enemy”. People are being told to “pick a side” and that there’s no room for middle ground. We here at Phetasy believe that there are a lot more people in the middle than politicians and the media would have us believe.

We’re collecting stories from the ever growing number of people who are finding themselves Politically Homeless and posting them here on Substack. If you have moved from conservative to liberal, or liberal to conservative, if you feel you’ve stayed in the same place and your party has swerved drastically away from you, if you had a moment that awakened you to the insanity and hypocrisy on both sides, if you keep your mouth shut anytime a political topic comes up because you’re afraid your opinion will cause you to lose friends or your job, you’re not as alone as you might think.

Our goal is to shine a light on people’s earnest, individual experiences and show them they’re not alone.

Letter 94:

June 5, 2024

Dear Bridget,

I can't do it. I voted for Trump twice. I loved that he beat Hillary and sent her into political retirement. Then I watched as a 70 year old had tantrums that a 10 year old would be embarrassed by. I watched as he has cost us countless down ballot races, with the recent red wave promise turning into a red trickle because of all the awful MAGA candidates. I watched as he hired people like John Bolton and then threw all of them under the bus when he fired them or they quit.

For the first time in my adult life, (I'm 62) I contributed to a POTUS primary campaign with a monthly recurring donation to Ron DeSantis.

I was stunned as Trump won the nomination going away.

I do not believe the polls for one second. There is no way that Trump gets the minority vote that is being credited to him. That, along with some awful MAGA candidates for the senate/congress will have Conservatives laying on the canvas once again, as the referee counts to 10.

I will not be casting a POTUS vote in November. I do live in a deep blue state that Trump has no chance to win. But, I believe that Trump, MAGA and the Dem's secret sauce will doom us to another 4 years of President Wormwood.

My only hope is that a genie pops up with 3 wishes where I can replace Trump and Biden before the conventions...Otherwise, we are screwed...

Yours truly,

Politically Homeless
