Did Not Vote For Trump In '16 or '20 But Voting For Him Now

Real people. Real letters. Real problems. No solutions.

Politics these days have become so divided and divisive that it’s become the norm to view the other side of the aisle as “the enemy”. People are being told to “pick a side” and that there’s no room for middle ground. We here at Phetasy believe that there are a lot more people in the middle than politicians and the media would have us believe.

We’re collecting stories from the ever growing number of people who are finding themselves Politically Homeless and posting them here on Substack. If you have moved from conservative to liberal, or liberal to conservative, if you feel you’ve stayed in the same place and your party has swerved drastically away from you, if you had a moment that awakened you to the insanity and hypocrisy on both sides, if you keep your mouth shut anytime a political topic comes up because you’re afraid your opinion will cause you to lose friends or your job, you’re not as alone as you might think.

Our goal is to shine a light on people’s earnest, individual experiences and show them they’re not alone.

Some letters have been edited for clarity and brevity. If you’re politically homeless and would like to share your story, please email us at iampoliticallyhomeless@gmail.com. All submissions will remain anonymous.

Letter 98:

July 5, 2024

I did not vote for Trump in '16 or '20.  changed my party from republican to independent the night trump  received enough delegates in '16.  I lived in Maryland so it really did not matter who I voted for but did not vote for President either year.  Voted republican for President every year since 1988 (except McCain) until '16.  I moved to PA and am leaning to actually vote for Trump.  The Democrats seem more crazy then the Republicans who are more just useless.

I think trump will be useless as President but I think the change since '20 will mean less constantly having to be the center of attention and the press will not be indulged like before with constant news/tweets (hopefully just ignore since I think many people have given up on the MSM).  I also think the heritage Project 2025 will get people in the administration quickly who will be reformers of the Federal government which is sorely needed (I speak as a 35 year Fed).

I do fear the violence by the Left if trump wins but the destruction to the rule of law under Biden has been worse than I have ever imagined.  Basically wholesale non enforcement at the border and facilitation of illegals.  Political prosecutions (not talking trump thinking over done J6, abortion and trying to silence anyone who does not promote LGBQ agenda).

I also think that trump being a lame duck will mean standard republicans will arise for '28 like DeSantis and Kemp while trump is deemed irrelevant to the future and he won't care as much about promoting MAGA people as the term goes on.
