Suburban Woman Voting For Trump

Real people. Real letters. Real problems. No solutions.
26

Politics these days have become so divided and divisive that it’s become the norm to view the other side of the aisle as “the enemy”. People are being told to “pick a side” and that there’s no room for middle ground. We here at Phetasy believe that there are a lot more people in the middle than politicians and the media would have us believe.

We’re collecting stories from the ever growing number of people who are finding themselves Politically Homeless and posting them here on Substack. If you have moved from conservative to liberal, or liberal to conservative, if you feel you’ve stayed in the same place and your party has swerved drastically away from you, if you had a moment that awakened you to the insanity and hypocrisy on both sides, if you keep your mouth shut anytime a political topic comes up because you’re afraid your opinion will cause you to lose friends or your job, you’re not as alone as you might think.

Our goal is to shine a light on people’s earnest, individual experiences and show them they’re not alone.

Some letters have been edited for clarity and brevity. If you’re politically homeless and would like to share your story, please email us at iampoliticallyhomeless@gmail.com. All submissions will remain anonymous.

Letter 74:

January 17th, 2024

Hi Bridget, you had a question on your twitter about suburban women voting for/against Trump. As a 46 year old suburban woman, I am voting for Trump in November even though I caucused for Vivek the other night. (Am from Iowa). My reasons are as follows:

  • When Trump was President, we did not have the illegal immigration border crisis.

  • When Trump was President, it was the best 4 economic years for my family. We are HURTING right now. Taxes are out of control, inflation is out of control, none of the “elites” in government seem to care AT ALL and just keep sending our money to Ukraine to lose a war against Russia.

  • No new wars when Trump was President. I’m worried Biden or Haley will start WWIII and I have a son who would be draft age. None of their kids ever get drafted, just “ours”.

  • I have 2 daughters and I’m concerned about the trans identifying men who are taking over women’s sports and spaces

  • I was never super political but my eyes have been opened over the last several years and I no longer trust or have any faith in our institutions such as the CDC, FBI, etc. They are all lying liars who lie right to our faces and receive almost no pushback. Thank God for Elon buying X or it would be much worse!

  • Under Trump we would have energy independence again and not this renewable crap they’re pushing now. In the Midwest we cannot rely on electric cars, etc. It’s too damn cold and too damn expensive to try and retrofit your house to charge a car like that. Did you see the charging station graveyard in Chicago this week? What a joke.

  • I am appalled at what the machine is doing to Trump with all the coordinated indictments and trying to remove him from ballots all the while smiling at the U S citizens and telling us they’re doing this for our own good because they’re trying to save “our democracy” which really just means anyone opposed to their plans. It makes me wonder what plans he screwed up for them when he got elected and I think if they succeed this will be the playbook for every Republican candidate in every election. It cannot stand.

Anyway, those are my thoughts. Thanks for listening!

Sincerely,

Politically Homeless from the Midwest Suburbs
