Some might say it’s a golden age of comedy. Through mediums like podcasting and thanks to platforms like YouTube and Netflix where a new comedy special drops every week, and TikTok making “crowd work comics” overnight stars, comedy is bigger than ever. In the vacuum of Hollywood and traditional media’s collapse, comedy and podcasting have filled the void.
But what happens when subversive comedy becomes mainstream? When the Jesters become Kings, who keeps them in check? Have we reached peak comedy? And if so—what’s next?
Tonight at 7pm ET on Real America I’ll be talking to Eli Lake about the “vibe shift” and a local Austin comedian—but I really want to hear from YOU. What are your thoughts about the last decade of comedy? What are you instincts about where things are headed?
