I also live in a deep blue state where Biden will win no matter what. My only possible reason to vote Trump would be hope for his pick for VP, because I can't stand the thought of Biden's or RFK's VP picks becoming president. Or maybe I'll just write in someone. - Politically Homeless #49

I'm finally catching up on Bridget's newsletters, and I'm reading this almost four months after you wrote it. So much has happened since then, and I'm wondering if you've had a change of heart.

I had been a registered Dem most of my adult life. My state was deep red most of that time, so my vote never really mattered. More recently, it has become a swing state, and I've become disillusioned with my party.

Four months ago, I would have told you I could never in a million years vote for Trump. Yet here I am now on the precipice of voting for him. What has moved me in that direction? As a supporter of and full time volunteer for Bobby Kennedy Jr., I was shocked and dismayed by the DNC and their conjoined media's blatant character assassination and lawfare against him. We had seen the smears before...against Bernie in 2016 and against Tulsi in 2020, but we had never witnessed anything as egregious as what they've done to Bobby over the past year.

Had Bobby simply dropped out and endorsed Trump, I don't think I could have brought myself to vote for "the orange man". However, putting Bobby and Tulsi on Trump's transition team to select his cabinet and staff was brilliantly played. And having them travel the country to speak on behalf of Trump's Reclaim America Tour is icing on the cake. Instead of reluctantly voting for Trump, I find myself actually hoping he will win.

Pinch me! I can hardly believe it myself.

Man - I relate to this so much. I liked most of Trumps policies, and the fact that he did have foreign policy locked down fairly well, but what really turned me off was the debates. He acted like a child. I just remember thinking "Oh my God. THIS is the guy???? This is who's in charge of the world???" The best way I can describe my feeling now is that it was like before the Connor Mcgregor/Floyd Mayweather fight, where they were just constantly promoting it with this ridiculous, over the top show. This election feels like it's being promoted by Don King, and at this point, they can both su-UUUUUCK IT. I don't care anymore. I'm probably not even going to bother. I feel like at some point in the next 5-10 years this whole thing is going to go feral anyway and we're all gonna have a whole different data set to work with just to get through the day.

I've never felt quite like this before in my life. I don't know much, but what I do know is neither of these two choads is going to fix any of this. Voting for Biden is basically saying "OK, fuck it. Let's get this over with." Voting for Trump is saying "OK, maybe I'll be able to spend a little of my 401k before it all goes 1984. Or Mad Max. Or whatever."

Yeah. Sorry for all of that.

I live in a deep blue state where my vote for Trump would be useless. So I will probably vote for RFK in the hopes of promoting more third party activity in the future.

We are screwed indeed. We voted for Nikki Haley in the primaries. If it will be Trump vs Biden we will leave it blank. There's no way I'm voting for a guy who sent a mob to the Capitol after he was already told he lost, then did nothing for 3 hours as they broke in. What really got me was how he put his own VP in danger without checking on his safety first. Those are not the actions of a Commander in Chief. Also a Commander in Chief would call for National Guard backup when he sees the Capitol Police get overwhelmed. He was watching it on TV for God's sake.

I also never forgave how his petty grievances cost Republicans the midterms. HE refused to endorse the senators in Georgia, was sparring with Brian Kemp over the election he already knew he lost. They should've dropped him after that. A man who says protesters can bring weapons to the Capitol because he cares about his crowd size, and says he fell in love with a foreign dictator has no place being anywhere near the White House.
