Such an interesting perspective! Just about 180 degrees from my background but ending up with the same conclusions! These letters are really insightful and are helping me survive this difficult political climate. Thanks so much.
Agreed! Sick of the identity politics and hyper-wokeness on the left and anti-wokeness/LGBT on the right. Can we just get back to governing? I'm less interested in the social/cultural issues and more in the economic ones: can we at least agree that we are too much in debt, and that maybe we should do something about that?
I’m another registered Independent since Bush v Gore. Raised with the Dems as the family party in a blue Northeastern state, now living in an extreme blue West 1 party state, I’ve ended up with the same conclusions as you! - Politically Homeless #49
100% Both political parties are full non serious people. They're just like our mainstream media. It's all about conflict to whip up the base and score political points against the other side. That's all that matters to them now.
I live in a one-party blue state, so it's hard to imagine living in a one-party red state. There is something to be said for a system where two parties have to share power. I assume that government corruption would be less, but I have no data to prove that.
I understand having such issues with voting. I lived in a community which is for the leader of the political party for years. It always voted for the same party regardless of whatever was going on in the country.
