Good letter!! The world has become truly topsy-turvy. In-side out, up-side down. Very little makes any kind of sense at all anymore. I'm a former (Canadian) leftie also now politically homeless. As I said to a friend last night, I used to belong to a very large tribe (leftie environmental activists). I figure my tribe is down to about 10 people now. Quite the change!? Just to remain sane in these times is a challenge, isn't it?

Another child of the ‘70s, young adult of the ‘80s, now politically homeless woman of the dystopia, because I value both ‘freedom of choice’ and ‘first do no harm’. The extreme factions in both parties seem to disregard these principles and I can’t vote for either now. - Politically Homeless letter #49.

There are so many of us!! Numbers too big to ignore🎵 if only we could leverage our power! Right now there's nowhere to turn. Thanks so much for this letter and all the voices here, holding candles in the darkness.🕯

OP it sounds nightmarish.

I'm of your generation, I think. I remember supporting feminism on principle to the point where I didn't call myself a feminist because, as a man, how would I ever know what it is like to be a woman? And now, men confidently elbow women out of the way of their ambitions in sports, activism, representation, and we are supposed to think this is progress.

It does leave you feeling politically homeless. As if I would ever want to be with the anti-choice side!

All I can cling to is my belief that good ideas tend to win out, and bad ones to fade away.

Bridget, I want to challenge you to dig into this. In a world without God, only “Liberalism”, it’s a certainty that everything will eventually become permissible. Except...except...if we turn our backs on Liberalism. At the founding of this nation the great men were not “Liberals”. They were mostly Christian men who wanted a nation of citizens who could govern themselves. And miraculously, they made something that had a chance of working. But others came along later to try and co-opt America to their desires. Today it is a sloppy mess divided against itself. Seriously consider - were previous generations so wrong that we had to abandon conservation of the republic they bequeathed us or have we been wrong to dismantle the republic they left to us. I think it’s the latter.

I too stopped donating to PP for the same reason. It’s such a shame as they were an amazing support for me in my college years in the early 90s.

So very sad to hear this happening. I do hope that things will end up better.
