Disgusted With Mainstream Media - Politically Homeless
Real people, real letters, real problems, no solutions.
Politics these days have become so divided and divisive that it’s become the norm to view the other side of the aisle as “the enemy”. People are being told to “pick a side” and that there’s no room for middle ground. We here at Phetasy believe that there are a lot more people in the middle than politicians and the media would have us believe.
We’re collecting stories from the ever growing number of people who are finding themselves Politically Homeless and posting them here on Substack. If you have moved from conservative to liberal, or liberal to conservative, if you feel you’ve stayed in the same place and your party has swerved drastically away from you, if you had a moment that awakened you to the insanity and hypocrisy on both sides, if you keep your mouth shut anytime a political topic comes up because you’re afraid your opinion will cause you to lose friends or your job, you’re not as alone as you might think.
Our goal is to shine a light on people’s earnest, individual experiences and show them they’re not alone.

Letter 59:
3/8/23
Teens - politicized child of active democrats to
20s - Mix of hippie spirituality with mix of left-y isms
30s - feminist non-violent activist
40s - being a professional with all of the above twirling around
50s - sort of the same while pretty much moving away from all mainstream media
60s - a whirlwind of change with new focus on colonialism & anti-racism, quite the polyamorous spiritualist, tried again being active in electoral politics (1st with Bernie - when with women on state-level, which was painful), not having a clue what to believe during and after pandemanta & even more disgusted with mainstream media, consider politics on a circle with your hands, with most in Congress at the thumbnails with the left & the lift meeting on many issues at the top. I am now more than half way up the left-side. I listened to my 1st Joe Rogen this week (where I learned of YOU) and finally realized even Wikipedia cannot be trusted. Jury is still out on Michael Moore. Disappointed in Democracy Now.
Turning 70 in June, and I am most def politically homeless but at least spiritually grounded and learning compassion for everyone since pretty much every one and every thing is fucked up. Still doubt I will ever vote for a Republican, but sometimes feel the macro is DOOMED.
Sincerely,
Politically Homeless

If we are aren't willing to consider another choice even when everything is falling down around us we know where the real problem is. We have been more indoctrinated to parties than we have to solutions. The only way I see out of this in our system is for our elected officials to be worried they will lose their jobs and have people working actively against them if they betray us. Doesn't mean you have to vote for their opponent again next time. Use the parties as tools for what you want, there is no moral compass there and I think too many think voting D or R makes them a good person and the other a bad one. That is the real problem.
When you realize that it's the elites of either side that have created the situation we're in regardless of what the grass roots have tried to effect because...well...money it makes for a sad/infuriating/confusing/frustrated awakening.
C Short is right, one of the only ways to start to right the ship is for the politicians and elites pulling the strings to have some fear instilled in them that they'll lose their jobs or the gravy train they've been riding will finally end if they betray the campaign promises they so easily spout out like a garden hose. How do we instill that in them? Hard to say. Prosecuting dirty politicians with real charges (think treason) and consequences (not slap on the wrist fines) again might be a start but it's an uphill climb like the Everest summit for us from here
