If I had a 10K windfall I would put it in a secret spot and spend a little mad money every once in a while on the things I pass over because I'm frugal. Like the Starbuck's brand of coffee creamers instead of Coffee Mate. And I'd get an occasional pedicure and massage. Or a bottle of stupid expensive perfume. I'd hire a voice coach for a few lessons.

And I'd bring gifts to friends, for no reason.

I would savor the discretionary spending power.

Wow, this sounds awesome. Sadly, I’m not sure $10k would get you far anymore. However, I think what I’d do with that money is pay off some of my mom’s credit cards, then use the rest to fly first class to Australia or New Zealand.

Considering that the flight is so long, that’d be a great luxury. I would convert some of the money into the currency down there and be off.

I am not sure if a week would be enough to see everything, but I would be spending a lot of time in Sydney. I would be exploring museums, restaurants, go inside the Sydney Opera House.

I think I would find some kind of experience to use that money on and if I have a week, then this sounds perfect. Traveling is always on my list of things to accomplish and I have been trying to get there my whole life.

So, you give me $10k and a week with no plans, then that’s where I’m headed!

This is tough. I thought 'Costa Rica!', and 'to see sloths!', but in reality, my husband wouldn't be able to get last-minute time off (we tried a couple of weeks ago for an impromptu trip to Miami... it didn't fly. Darn.).

Still, if by some fluke my husband COULD get time off - I'd say Costa Rica, and to see sloths. I want to stay in a treehouse, and to visit the cloud forest. If I had longer than a week, perhaps I'd try Chile or Argentina (although those darn Argentinians don't like Brits very much...). Anywhere with sun... I'm so over the Minnesota winter.
