Without getting into whether I agree or not and all of the arguments and counter arguments, I believe that if we were in the distant future and analyzing the rise and fall of the American Empire, it would resemble more of an incoherent state going through a leadership crisis and growing in spite of that than it would a stable system. It’d be like life spans were short or the heads of state were succumbing to a sustained plague with the rate of turn around. American democracy has implemented a guaranteed coup every 4-8 years.
