Politically Homeless - Red Pilled, I Guess So
Real people, real letters, real problems, no solutions.
Politics these days have become so divided and divisive that it’s become the norm to view the other side of the aisle as “the enemy”. People are being told to “pick a side” and that there’s no room for middle ground. We here at Phetasy believe that there are a lot more people in the middle than politicians and the media would have us believe.
We’re collecting stories from the ever growing number of people who are finding themselves Politically Homeless and posting them here on Substack. If you have moved from conservative to liberal, or liberal to conservative, if you feel you’ve stayed in the same place and your party has swerved drastically away from you, if you had a moment that awakened you to the insanity and hypocrisy on both sides, if you keep your mouth shut anytime a political topic comes up because you’re afraid your opinion will cause you to lose friends or your job, you’re not as alone as you might think.
Our goal is to shine a light on people’s earnest, individual experiences and show them they’re not alone.

Letter 11:
Love both your shows, Dumpster Fire and Walk-Ins. Keep it up.
So here is my story, I’m a Hispanic cop from Texas, moved to the Pacific Northwest for work as a cop at the start of the pandemic. I have never been Left or Right politically. I would say I was a moderate independent. The turning point for me was slowly then all of a sudden as they say, but definitely began in 2020. The major one was the defund the police nonsense and the riots. I never thought the Left could be so stupid. From that point I guess I began to notice the cascade of shit coming from the Left. Latinx, BLM, the pronoun crap, the lies about COVID, the overt Marxist agenda and now the rising crime and lack of support for law enforcement in the Portland /Vancouver area. The DA in Portland refuses to prosecute criminals. Then I read The Madness of Crowds…pretty much sealed the deal I would never be able to support the Left on anything. Currently the store selves and gas prices have me a bit concerned about the state of our county while the Left attempts to tell people that inflation is a good thing.
The Left has lost their minds. Did I forget to mention the rampant homeless and drug problems in Portland and Washington State?! It’s madness.
That is all for the rant.
Sincerely,
Politically Homeless

This. Is. Awesome. I agree completely: As a classical liberal, the New Far Left has pushed me continually to the center and beyond since 2016, and now I can't stand them. I can't stand the Right, either. Aka: I'm 'politically homeless' (great phrase, BTW.) I think the midterms were a referendum on centrism, repudiating, for the most part, both extremes.
If anyone's interested, I write on my Substack, "Sincere American Writing" a lot about political binaries and the insanity of the left/right. My most recent post is about the latest Joe Rogan interview with Matt Walsh (filmmaker of WHAT IS A WOMAN?). https://michaelmohr.substack.com/p/joe-rogan-and-matt-walsh
