Politically Homeless - No Place For Me Anymore
Real people, real letters, real problems, no solutions.
Politics these days have become so divided and divisive that it’s become the norm to view the other side of the aisle as “the enemy”. People are being told to “pick a side” and that there’s no room for middle ground. We here at Phetasy believe that there are a lot more people in the middle than politicians and the media would have us believe.
We’re collecting stories from the ever growing number of people who are finding themselves Politically Homeless and posting them here on Substack. If you have moved from conservative to liberal, or liberal to conservative, if you feel you’ve stayed in the same place and your party has swerved drastically away from you, if you had a moment that awakened you to the insanity and hypocrisy on both sides, if you keep your mouth shut anytime a political topic comes up because you’re afraid your opinion will cause you to lose friends or your job, you’re not as alone as you might think.
Our goal is to shine a light on people’s earnest, individual experiences and show them they’re not alone.

Letter 21:
I cried when I filled out my ballot in the 2016 election.
I'm 53 years old and I was once the most liberal person you knew. Over the last 10 years, I've evolved and a couple of my thoughts changed, but I'm still the person I always was, for the most part.
I have a couple of views that don't line up with the party rhetoric and that means that there's no place for me in liberal spaces. It's scary to see how angry and close-minded my people have become over the last few years. I've seen many people insist that if your family likes Trump, you should cut them out of your life, and I began to pull away around that time.
I have voted for a Dem since 1988, so I honestly can't imagine becoming a Republican. I do not want to have those values. But my party really doesn't listen to me. I've been voting against the worst of two terrible options since 2016, and I'm over it. What do Democrats even value anymore? What is our goal here, folks?
I vote for Democrats in local elections, but will probably vote for a 3rd party candidate for President.
Sincerely,
Politically Homeless

I can feel the struggle going through this person. I get where they are coming from.
Those local votes hurt the rest of the country too. Look at what the people of Diane Feinstein and Adam Schiffs districts inflict on everyone else. Sen Scott Weiner is seeming legislating for MAPS, shamelessly and openly, and yet he’s elected over and over again. The people in these districts hold the rest of us hostage.
