Politically Homeless - Too Many Inconsistencies
Real people, real letters, real problems, no solutions.
Politics these days have become so divided and divisive that it’s become the norm to view the other side of the aisle as “the enemy”. People are being told to “pick a side” and that there’s no room for middle ground. We here at Phetasy believe that there are a lot more people in the middle than politicians and the media would have us believe.
We’re collecting stories from the ever growing number of people who are finding themselves Politically Homeless and posting them here on Substack. If you have moved from conservative to liberal, or liberal to conservative, if you feel you’ve stayed in the same place and your party has swerved drastically away from you, if you had a moment that awakened you to the insanity and hypocrisy on both sides, if you keep your mouth shut anytime a political topic comes up because you’re afraid your opinion will cause you to lose friends or your job, you’re not as alone as you might think.
Our goal is to shine a light on people’s earnest, individual experiences and show them they’re not alone.

Letter 17:
As requested in Dumpster Fire #82.
I was never 100% leftist orthodox. As an example Bernie's stance on gun rights always seems a bit more sensible than what I was supposed to believe.
The real turning point was when it was clear that I had to fully believe everything Black Lives Matter, and there became too many inconsistencies.
Being made aware of the killing of Tony Timpa
The hostile ACAB (all cops are bastards) slogans towards our fellow americans. I don't have a lot of sympathy for cops, but that level of identity-based judgment turned me off. We're all individuals. We need to allow the reality that there are good cops.
Starting to listen to Coleman Hughes and his very intelligent thoughts on this stuff.
Similar to above, but with John McWhorter
BLM doing some really shitty things to the Bernie campaign, who should have been considered an ally, but staying away from the Clinton campaign which was the actual problematic political campaign.
Other things that really drove the nails into the coffin:
Overcoming my Trump derangement syndrome. He can be a garbage human being AND still correct about some things.
Have too many questions about pronoun orthodoxy. Too much of it doesn't make sense.
Have too many questions about gender orthodoxy. Too much of it doesn't make sense.
Not being able to talk to my leftist friends about the realities and facts (BLM, pronouns, gender stuff, etc)
I started watching Rising from The Hill. Highly recommend it. The show really focuses on bringing us together rather than the CNN/MSNBC/FOX messaging that 1/2 the country is our dire enemy.
You were the one that prompted me to identify as "Politically Homeless." Great term.
Sincerely,
Politically Homeless

It's sad how many of these letters are very similar to my own experience.
