Greetings from the Phetaverse!
Hello! I hope everyone had a relaxing and wonderful Thanksgiving. It’s hard to believe that a year ago at this time I was still in Los Angeles and moving to Texas was still a wish in my heart. Now here I am, sitting in a Texas suburb, often in disbelief at the strange paths life can take us on if we just stay open.
Change is tough, though. Not only did I move myself and my family. I also moved my business. To be totally transparent, it has been a hard year for a myriad of reasons that are completely out of my control—the economy, algorithms, advertising dollars down, podcast networks not paying me—but I’m a woman who prides myself on taking responsibility for the variables I can control.
And it’s come to my attention that I’m confusing my audience. For one thing, I have a million ideas and I don’t just produce one podcast, I currently have three. People like you to get in a lane and stay in it.
But that’s not the real problem. The real problem is that I’m in too many lanes. Not only am I confusing my audience, I’m confusing the algorithms. In an attempt to diversify where people can find me and stay ahead of censorship and the tech overlords, I’ve fractured my content, my audience, and my reach.
We are in the process of streamlining and simplifying. Since Substack has created a place for writing, podcasts—and now video!—this is where we will be setting up our digital home base for all our content to live and for the conversations to take place around it.
Heading into 2024—what will undoubtedly be an insane election year—we want phetasy.com to be your oasis of sanity and levity. Playfulness and nuance. A place to focus on resilience and courage and getting out of our own way. Together we will keep our wits about us and laugh while the world burns.
