March 12 - Top of Mind (5 minutes)
The Chinese were right. Interesting times are a curse.
The premise of #writeclub is to write for at least five minutes. It can be daunting when you forget that is all you have to do. So we are returning to our roots. Set a timer. Write for five minutes. Stop when the timer goes off. Whatever you want. Go.
It’s been a strange time to be doing things that for a long time were just normal things you did without incident. Like for instance, when I had my baby, on the tail end of the pandemic, there was a formula shortage. That was scary and unsettling. What if she doesn’t breast feed? What if I can’t find food for her? Then, when all the babies were getting sick in the fall and winter, there was a medicine shortage. The shelves were barren. Hospitals didn’t have antibiotics. Also—very scary. There have been egg shortages. Energy prices are fucking bananas—it’s putting me in the poor house just to heat my home.
