March 1 - New Girl
I remember hating them so much, cursing the fact that I was ever born after another day of navigating a new school and getting teased by cruel children.
Write about a time you moved.
I moved a lot, pretty much every two years for most of my youth. I was born in NYC. At 2 and a half we moved to Minnesota. I was there until the end of 2nd grade. We moved back to the East Coast at the beginning of my 3rd grade year. Halfway through 4th grade, we moved again, from one town in Connecticut to another that was closer to NYC so my dad could commute to work.
Cardboard boxes, dollies, moving trucks, they all trigger memories of fear and stress. My mom has pictures of me sweeping an empty house when I’m about 8-years-old. It seemed like just after we would hang the pictures on the wall and as I would make a friend or two and the kids would finally learn my name, we would move.
