Being an American, you always get the feeling that people all over the world think you’re stupid and ill-informed.

Write about a place that isn’t your neighborhood, or maybe not even your country, but where you feel you belong. What is it that makes you feel at home there? What is it about you, if anything, that’s out of sync with the place?

Mirissa, Sri Lanka

I’ll go with the first place that comes to mind — which is Sri Lanka. I originally went to the country for what was supposed to be two weeks in 2013 and ended up staying for three months.
