When was the last time you felt helpless—and what did you do about it?
The last time I felt helpless was the first time I felt that particular kind of helplessness, as it was pertaining to my child. At around four weeks old my daughter got colic and it persisted for another six weeks. It was night after heartbreaking night of feeling completely and utterly helpless. Not just helpless, but useless and incapable. I wrote pretty extensively about the crazy-making of colic here.
