January 30 - Favorite Room

Describe your favorite room in your home or apartment.

This prompt comes at a great time because I’ve outgrown this home and I feel I’m taking it for granted. But this house has been so good to me; I’ve been here almost longer than I’ve lived anywhere and I’ve truly grown up in this place. When I moved in with my former roommate, I had a dog. I still have a dog—but now I also have a husband and a baby.

My favorite room is the living room, which is where my husband and I are currently sitting. He’s in the rocker next to the makeshift diaper station. The cabinets under the TV and the coffee table used to look sparse, with decorative coffee table books. Now they are filled with toys and children’s books.

Hope sleeps on her bed on the floor. She is Lord of the Couch all day but knows that after the baby goes down, we get the LoveSac to ourselves. To read, to write, to hang out and watch TV. Some blessed downtime together at the end of the day.
