The United States is the greatest and freest country in the world and we are all blessed to live in it! Even those who hate it refuse to leave it. Many people around the world hate us sure. But many more people around the world love us! The founding fathers and mothers risked everything so that we today could be free as did all the brave men and women in uniform who’ve served in our military through the years. The United States is far from perfect. It also the case that we have much dark history. But name we one other country that can’t say both these things as well! The degree of freedom we have in this country is unparalleled. Our food is out of this world! The diversity of landscapes, cultures and people we have here is breathtaking. Our second amendment rights allow us to be armed against government tyranny. I say that as a supporter of gun control. Our western nations would do well to have their own. We are a young nation yet we have two hundred fifty years of fascinating, rich and complex history. In America, we are the only country in the world where free speech is guaranteed. In the rest of the western world it exists but it is not guaranteed. For example in the United Kingdom, Count Dankula almost went to jail and had to pay a fine for teaching his dog to do the seig heil. In Canada, Jordan Peterson lost his license to practice because he refused to follow bill C-17 which compelled the use of a Trans or nonbinary person’s pronouns. In Germany, people are thrown in jail regularly for denying the Holocaust. None of this would ever happen in the land of the free and the home of the brave! The love shown to our country by people from around the world should give us a new appreciation for all that we have. 99.9% of the people on Earth can only dream of the many rights and civil liberties us Americans take for granted everyday. In America, you will never be thrown in jail for criticizing the government, for making fun of the President or making a parody video taking the p*** out of members of Congress.
Maestro Edvard Tchivzel, his wife, and his son defected from the USSR 35 years ago in Greenville, SC. His wife had met a woman who was fluent in Russian when the Soviet Orchestra was playing in Greenville at the beginning of their tour. The Tchivzels wished to defect and asked for help. At the end of the tour, they returned to Greenville where US State Department officials whisked them away from their Soviet keepers. While he had opportunities to conduct on bigger stages and with bigger orchestras around the world, he and his family returned to Greenville because it was they first experienced hope, welcome, and support. He has always opened his performances with the Star Spangled Banner, conducting both the audience singing and the musicians.
Dumpster Fire 329 was the absolute best. It made me want to have words with any American who doesn't feel patriotic this Independence Day. Thank you for everything you do Bridget 🇺🇸
