I was in high school in the 70's, and it was pretty much like that. We would wait outside liquor stores for an adult and ask them to buy us beer.

Great episode, Bridget and Maggie!

Here are a few 90s movies I think would be really fun for you to share your take on.

"To Die For" (1995)

Savagely wicked black comedy where Nicole Kidman plays a narcissist obsessed with TV stardom. "You're not anyone in America unless you're on TV." It's a masterpiece.

"SubUrbia" (1997)

Another Richard Linklater movie, yet not as well known as "Dazed and Confused". This one based on a play written by Eric Bogosian ("Talk Radio") is far more cynical and darkly funny, yet focuses on an ensemble of Gen X youth hanging out outside a convenience store over one very intense night.

"Clockwatchers" (1997)

Personally I find this penetrating dark comedy on soul-sucking 90s cubicle work to be more lacerating than Mike Judge's justly celebrated "Office Space". Toni Collette, Parker Posey(!), Lisa Kudrow and Alanna Ubach play temps waiting for life or really anything exciting to happen until... I won't spoil it.

"Welcome to the Dollhouse" (1996)

Remarkable dark comedy that captures the hell of middle school by the most unpopular girl named Dawn Wiener. It's the zero-fucks-given Gen-X version of "Eighth Grade". Hilarious, devastating and has a grunge garage rock song that rips. The original title was "Faggots and Retards".

Let me know if you've seen them or they intrigue you. I've got more if you're interested.

Back in 2010, I realized that more time had passed since Dazed & Confused was released than from when it was set to when it was released.
