I didn't want any of this. I stumbled into the culture wars after a decades long blackout. But I'm here now and although I have no idea what I'm doing, I love writing, so you're stuck with me. And the Substack format soothes my writer’s soul.
The purpose of this newsletter is to highlight some of the thousands of Letters from the Politically Homeless I’ve received over the past five years. I’m in the process of following up with many of the folks who have written me about how they feel now and I think this perspective is so valuable right now. Many people have written and shared so much of themselves, with their permission, I hope to reveal the diverse group of individuals and ideas lost in the wasteland of the center. I’ll also be telling my story, commenting on culture, sharing journal entries, working out stand up bits and doing writing exercises. Honestly—it will be whatever I want it to be and most of it will be free, but the more personal stuff will go behind a paywall for obvious reasons. I also know a portion of my audience is already subscribed to my digital gated community phetasy.com and if this is the case, have no fear, you’ll get whatever I post behind a paywall here, there as well.
