    Our day started relatively normal, like any working day…we woke up, grabbed some coffee and started running. Running errands, writing, writing, and writing, taking pictures, faxing, copying and just generally trying to run a business from on the road. But strange coincidences seem to follow us around and as we sat in a hole-in-the-wall pizza joint in Santa Monica... The events that followed were abnormal at best.

    Wassabi.  We’ve been kickin’ it in Los Angeles for the past five days and it has been simply maaarvelous.  We have a lot of work to do folks and a lot of serious road tripping ahead of us so bear with us with the blogs/web-site.  Basically our days have consisted of working on the content we will use to re-launch the web site this coming Memorial Day (hint-hint).

    So, Easter was a blast. And by blast we mean we had to blast out of Santa Cruz the next day.   Sorry to all the folks we terrified.  Maybe dressing up like biblical characters for a "Resurrection Party" on Easter isn't such a good idea after all.

    You realize quite a bit secluded on a farm with little or no interaction with the outside world. The people you meet, the stories you hear, and the things you see tend to change your perspective on what you originally thought life was all about on the east coast. As far as we’re concerned… All y’all paper pushin’ Yanks ain’t got shit. Sure, big business is a very important aspect of our country and it is a powerful driving force. However, when the going gets rough, and we’re talking really rough, y’all are screwed. The survivors, well the survivors live out here.

    Last week I was in Miami, Florida.  I had been dealing with nothing but the boring logistics of business, the exhausting art of promotion and what was beginning to feel like the endless peddling of t-shirts everywhere I went.  My spirits were low.  I felt disheartened and uninspired.  I was tapped out mentally, physically and most importantly, spiritually.  In the midst of dealing with the material realities of my endeavor and the small, stupid-but-necessary details that go along with running a business, I felt like I had completely lost sight of the big picture.

    Unfortunately we were unable to stay in our anticipated destination of choice, Jackson, MS, this evening. After ten long hours in the car we anxiously awaited our arrival in the economy hotel capital of the nation. As we exited I-55 northbound we were delighted to see the array of econo-motels littering the streets of downtown Jackson.

    Due to extenuating circumstances, we felt the dire need to leave the confines of Florida and continue on our quest for the Holy Grail. Sorry, I mean the West Coast. As beautiful as it was, and as generous as our hosts were (big ups to Justin and Matt once again), we couldn’t fully spread our wings in the concrete jungle of southern Florida.

    e e cummings

    to be nobody-but-yourself--
    in a world which is doing its best,
    night and day,
    to make you everybody else
    --means to fight the hardest battle
    which any human being can fight;
    and never stop fighting.

    should not interrupt the person doing it.
