The Power of Will
We’ve been busy little beavers here at PHETASY. We should apologize to those of you in NYC—due to some unexpected tire trouble and impending weather conditions, we’re just going to have to push on through. Sorry to the guys in HEAVY RESCUE. We made a Herculean effort, but just couldn’t get on the road soon enough.
Check out the newest addition to the PHETASY crew, The Notorious BFG, with his column The New New Yorker. We welcome his hilarious observations on “Large Apple” living with a great giant bear hug and a big sloppy kiss.
It was only one short week ago today that my cousin and I decided that we were going to make the MILKIN’ MIAMI 2006 tour a reality. Once we committed to the idea, we sat down and made a list of Things To Do before we left. It was a long list that was daunting and seemingly impossible to achieve.
As it turns out, nothing is impossible when the stars are aligned and you set your mind to something. Despite being a last-minute decision, things have fallen into place quite nicely. But I have not done it alone. There is a long list of people who have come through for me in a pinch, and they will not be forgotten. More importantly, they will be recognized right now.
In no particular order:
1. My designer, Jon Estrella, you are my hero.
2. My web designer, Kevin Treman, for being so flexible and getting all the details taken care of last minute. I know I am a giant pain in the ass, and you deal with me like a champ.
3. JakPrints, my sticker/greeting card printer for the fastest sticker turn-around ever. Holla at ya. You guys rule. (Dan and Nick especially…and if all goes well, hopefully I’ll see you boys in Florida.)
4. American Apparel, for being that fucking cool that they got me my t-shirts overnight.
5. Cool Air Creations, my screen printers, for always coming through for me and constantly blowing me away with their superb quality, great prices and faster-than-normal production times.
6. The dudes at KINKO’S for helping me pimp out the PHETASYMOBILE with decals and vinyl stickers.
7. AAA for providing the TripTix, maps, information books and just generally being the coolest company in the world. Hopefully we won’t need your roadside assistance or bail services…but it’s good to know they are there.
8. The guys at VW for prepping the car for the trip. Hopefully I’ll see some of you in Miami next week too. (Apparently everyone and their mother is going to Florida.)
9. Sean for stepping up with the screen-printing skills to provide us with some killer jackets for the trip, for risking his relationship with his parents by going on the trip and cooking up some of the best chicken dishes this side of the Mississippi. Tell your friends.
10. Maggie for the usual: keeping me sane, keeping me organized and making all us writers sound wicked smaht. You got skills.
11. Ness for being PHETASY’S first official distributor and for winning the bet. Way to rally the troops (and models).
12. Nancy, my “stylist” for giving me a feisty new haircut and putting up with my Diva-like demands long before I ever have the right to act like a Diva.
13. The Director of Cool for the sickest road trip mix ever…wish you were with us buddy.
