About
4.5 years ago, when I first moved to LA, Bridget was kind enough to let
me move into her 1 bedroom apartment with her and thus began the Days
of Soup and Toast. We were both broke - incredibly broke - we couldn't
afford to buy shampoo or much food, and certainly not beds. I was
sleeping on a leaky blowup mattress and Bridge was on a futon. It also
happened to be a pretty cold winter for southern California. I know you
New Englanders are rolling your eyes, but considering that apartments
in LA aren't winterized and can be rather drafty, it got pretty damn
cold. We would bundle up and huddle next to the heater - Bridge
actually liked sleeping next to it - and our tagline for that winter was
(through chattering teeth) "I've never been so cold in my life", in a
suitably melodramatic voice, of course.
So one night Bridge was trying to warm up and started
dancing in the kitchen. It cracked me up and I grabbed the video
camera. You can hear me laughing hysterically in the background. It
might just be funny to us - as these things usually are - but in tribute
to my free-spirited, wackadoo best-friend who I miss so much, I thought
I'd share it with all of you out there who probably miss her too.
