Taken By Trees: Open Field (2007)
This is Victoria Bergsman solo project, you may know home girl from the Stockholm Indie Giant Peter Bjorn and John, and lesser known group The Concrete's. This Swedish group released Open Field in July of 2007. It took me a while to actually find this disc, but once I did it proved to be special. But don't take my word for it, check it out yourself.
The Weepies-Say I Am You (2006)
Ok I have to admit, I am getting soft in my old age... and The Weepies second album Say I Am You is proof of this to me. Deb and Steve Tannen are a happily married couple who make music from their home in Topanga Canyon, California. I would say that folk pop describes this sound pretty well. If you're a network TV watcher you'll recognize a lot of this stuff; the networks really eat this shit up for those overly emotional moments on Grey's Anatomy and Scrubs. But don't let that discourage you from checking it out. And please remember I warned you, it's a bit soft. Just to prove I am not a sappy bastard....
Bim Sherman: Tribulation
This is the perfect spring and summer sound for anything, Classical Roots and Dub sound that will last forever. Bim Sherman is a little known artist to the American media but is a GOD In the UK and Jamaica. This is a compilation of tracks he did from 1974-1979 in Jamaica befor he made his leap to the United Kingdom. I really believe that Bim has the perfect roots tune. Classic! PEACE AND LOVE-DOC
