The Abyssinians by Satta Massagana is by far one of the most influential Reggae albums of all time, released in 1976 it was considered ahead of its time. Although these cats are from Jamaica, they are firmly rooted in their Rastafarian beliefs. "Satta Massgana" the title track is a tribute to their messiah Haile Selassie, the former emperor of Ethopia. All in all, it's a great roots album.
Sun Kil Moon: Ghosts of the Great Highway
This is not for everybody, but it sure is for me..A revamped Red House Painters created by lead man Mark Kozelek,Sun Kil Moon, released Ghost of the Great Highway (2003). For some reason this album did not translate to more success for the group but nevertheless it's a great album from to back. Also, if you're into that, check out their two other relseses Tiny Cities (2005) & April (2008).
Kate Rusby: Sleepless
Okay I don't really get grandiose, but this album changed my life! Kate RusbySleepless (1999) is one of my favorite albums! PERIOD! Don't take it from me, check her out.
